Code 7 is truly a next-gen adventure
First episode of much anticipated text adventure Code 7 from German developer Goodwolf Studio now available on Steam. Code 7 which started as a one-week prototype during the Master Studies at the Cologne Game Lab and was published for free in early 2015. Its great idea quickly developed to become an episodic text adventure with professional voice actors. In September 2016 a remake of the original prototype (Episode 0: Allocation) has been released, together with the launch of the Kickstarter campaign. The developers, Kevin Glaap and Zein Okko, successfully raised ~16.000€ to continue working on the four upcoming episodes.
In Code 7 you take control of a hacker name Alex. There was an accident in an eerie space station and you don’t know where you are or what to do. A computer is all you have and using your hacking skills and the help of your partner Sam, you have to uncover frighting secrets of the facility you’re trapped in. I played Episode 0 last week and the first thing that got me hooked with Code 7 was its great voice acting. Voice acting is so great that you don’t feel the absence of graphical scenes. The narrative is also attractive and engaging and I’m not going to spoil it for you!
Please do yourself a favor. Open Code 7 page on Steam, download the free demo (Episode 0) and play it. If you like text-based games you’re gonna love it and buy the first episode, because its truly a next-gen text-based adventure. But if you’re not into these kinds of games, with its unique narrative and excellent voice acting, Code 7 will change your mind about story-driven adventures . Now go play the game and thank me later.
